Happy 2009!

I truely hope for all of you that 2009 is a wonderful year. :D

Something to Really Worry About!

The title link is real, the movie posted below is a dramatization about what will happen someday. While those of us east of Indianna will probably survive the initial eruption, many of us won't survive the aftermath of what will be a very long winter (decade? longer?) and the food shortages that will happen afterward. Not to mention if the bread basket of America's midwest is not able to harvest grain the rest of the world suffers greatly too. First link plays it one after the other.

I'm thinking it will be a canning year for me and probably time to start buying rice, bleach and heirloom seeds. :)

Very Very Sad Today

Last Friday we had to rush my oldest male kitty to the vet. He just got so sick so fast. He was afterall 14 almost 15 so we hoped and prayed that we could pull him through this. He spent from Friday until yesterday morning at the vet. We lost our Sapphire kitty yesterday Dec 9th. I am so sad. He was such a big part of my life. It is so quite here without hearing him talk to me all day long. Both of us are broken hearted. I miss you little guy. I can't beleve you aren't here anymore. I hope you are playing in in a lush meadow with your sister now, young again and no more pain. Bye Sahpy cat you've left paw prints all over my heart. I am so sad.

We Lost One of the Greats

On Sunday we lost one of the greats. We'll miss you George!

The Most Wonderful Weekend

I just had the best weekend ever! I sent hubby off with his best friend to the races and spent the whole weekend by myself without a single thing to do except whatever I wanted to do. Now to some of you this will sound extremely boring but to those of us who have homes and others to take care of, you know what I'm talking about! :)

Sweet man called twice a day to make sure I was ok. Or maybe just to make sure I was home? ;) Whatever it was nice that he was so concerned. I think he gets afraid sometimes that I might like it too much on my own? I always tell him that I do remember what it was like being single and I have no intention of being that way willingly again.

So I ate out of the fridge, slept in the center of the bed, watched chick flicks and the whole series of VH1's "the 80's". Stayed up as late as I wanted to....well more like able to ;). It was really nice to just not have anything to worry about. I just had a wonderful weekend all for me. :D

I'm Still Alive

I have been gone for so long no one probably even stops in anymore? I haven't forgot the place just have been really busy and very occupied. I know I keep telling you that some day I will have a story to tell, well it just keeps getting more and more complicated. Can't really say much more about it right now.

We are buying new bicycles. I'd tell you what brand it is but I don't know. Something Italian that the guys are all swooning over. LOL I only asked why it cost 4X what Walmart wanted and got waved off. I'll be lucky to make it up and down the street twice before I collaspe. I am out of shape. I just know hubby will try to prove how much better shape he is in, guess I'd better get the Ben-Gay ready. :) He hates the stuff says it makes him smell old....I tell him he is old. ;)

Happy Anniversary!

Time sure passes quickly. I can hardly believe that 22 years have passed for us. I don't feel like I should be that old. There has never been a time that I really wanted to walk away from you. There have been a time or two that I'd have loved to give you a swift kick but we won't talk about those annoying guy things today. ;) I'd love to know how many hours we've spent laughing. Glad no one can see how silly we can be together! Here's to another 22 happy years!

Hello World

Guess once again it's been longer than I intended it to be once again. Wish I could tell you it was because of some exciting thing but *sigh* I'm afraid it was not.

I had 50 strawberry plants last year that we planted. They all have had babies now and lord knows how many are out there now?! Hubby says at least 100 plants that are covered in little white flowers every where!! I am going to get strawberries this year! YIPPEE! I need to get some netting over them to keep the birds out of them. The deer will also want some and I might just have to camp out with the shotgun for them. ;) I need to find a good recipe for strawberry preserves. My hubby will think I am a goddess if I can do that! LOL

I also have about 30 2" high tomato plants. I bought heirloom seeds this year becuse I want to be able to harvest my own seeds and keep them year to year. All of these hybrid seeds being sold could one day cause a famine, I'd like to help keep things as they should be and do it now before the industrial farms find a way to keep heirloom seeds from being sold. Next year I will do green peppers and each year after that another vegetable. It's fairly simple to harvest your own seeds though it will be hard to want to not eat the best looking veggies!

So not much going on here except spring things. The weather has been beautiful! In the 65º-75ºf range everyday. :) Everything is budding now and green as green can be. It's really beautiful here in the spring with all of the rolling hills. My German friends always said "just like Germany except no castles". LOL AHHH spring!

Just For Fun!

I just love these stupid quizzes. I'm sure they are very generic in their ratings and probably really only say mostly good things much like fortune cookies. Never had a cookie tell me I was bad or going to have a rotten day! Ithought it was cute though so here you go, what does your name mean?:

What Christina Means

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.

You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.

A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

Time Flies!

I can't believe it has been over a month since my last post. Sorry about that! I had no idea time was flying that fast.

Let's see....we had a huge snowstorm about 2 weeks ago on Friday. I haven't seen that much snow since '77 & '78 and those were called blizzards. Here are a few photos taken the next day. The one is the front yard and the other is the backyard. It doesn't look as bad as what it really was, we had 20" of snow along with 25mph winds that drifted it everywhere. So now I've had my fill of winter, spring can show up anytime!!
Out the front

That's all for now. I will try to be better about stopping in here.

I Am SO MAD! GRRRR!

I got a call at 9:05am yesterday morning from the local police dept. Let me tell you if you want to be immedately awake have the police call and ask for you by name!! :0 I timidly said yes I am. He then goes on to tell me that our other house had been broken into sometime around 1am and then someone needed to go and file a report.

Thank-God there isn't too much damage. They went in after the copper and cut a 30' water line out. Not sure what spooked them but they had 1/2 of the electric box powered down and ready to strip the wiring but didn't get that far. They broke a window, took the 30' of copper pipe, and stole the apartment sized frig. They caused about $400 in damage for about $80 worth of stuff. No one ever accused criminals of being smart!

Today I'd like to take a piece of that copper pipe they stole and beat them about the head really good! GGGRRRRR!!! I just don't get why criminals will work 10x as hard as they would at a job for such a little bit of reward and chance their freedom? From what the police said they think these guys are responsible for a lot of the break-ins lately with the same type of copper thefts. For $80 they are probably looking at 5 years or more in the custody of the state of Ohio.

Oh yeah, they got caught and they have all of our stuff inpounded for now. I guess one of them tried to run and ended up running right into the front of another crusier and got his foot hit. I don't think they like them too much because they said something about them "trashing a cruiser" going after them? I'm sure they are the favorite inmates at the city jail! ;)

August 28, 1963

I heard someone talking about this speech this morning and it reminded me that I saw it too. I was very young mind you but I do remember it. My Dad always made a point of me watching the news from the time I was old enough to understand. I remember lots of things that I really shouldn't but since he took the time to explain and made a big deal out of things I do remember. I would've been 2 yo on the day this speech was given almost 3. Sitting on the floor in front of that 20" black and white TV asking every question in the world like most kids do.

Time....

Too long since I've stopped by. Time just goes by. Here it is 2008 already, YIKES! I remember thinking when I was about 14 how old I'd be in 2000!!!! I'd be really old then. LOL Now I think about how young I was then. I've come to the conclusion that age is just a number and if you can sneak by all of the mirrors you just won't notice! I have 28 stuck in my head, it is always what I want to say without thinking. Gosh where did all of the time go?
